파장(波長)은 파동에서 같은 위상을 가진 서로 인접한 두 점 사이의 거리를 뜻한다. 혹은 충격적인 일이 끼치는 영향 또는 그 영향이 미치는 정도나 동안을 비유적으로 이르는 말로 쓰이기도 한다.
영어로 파장(波長)은 “Wavelength”라고 한다. 이는 동시에 방송국에서 사용하는 주파수를 뜻하기도 한다.

- “The trunk of a tree appears brown because brown is the only wavelength which is reflected.” (나무 줄기는 갈색으로 보이는데 그 이유는 갈색이 반사되는 유일한 파장이기 떄문이다.)
