“Contradict”이라는 단어는 어떤 사람의 말을 반박하거나 부정하는 것을 뜻한다. 혹은 아예 진술이나 증거 등이 완전히 모순되는 것을 뜻하기도 한다.

- (어떤 사람의 말을) 부정하다, 반박하다.
- (진술이나 증거 등이) 모순되다.

- To say the opposite of (something that someone else has said), to deny the truth of (something)
- To deny or disagree with what is being said by (someone)
- To not agree with (something) in a way that shows or suggests that it is false, wrong, etc.
- “All evening her husband contradicted everything she said.” (저녁 내내 그녀의 남편은 그녀가 하는 모든 말을 반박했다.)
- “The two stories contradict each other.” (그 두 이야기는 서로 모순된다.)
- “It is the fundamental nature of politicians to contradict others’ statements.” (다른 사람들의 주장을 반박하는 것이 정치인들의 근본적인 본성이다.)
