“Magnitude”는 다양한 뜻으로 쓰이는데, 기본적으로는 상당한 규모, 혹은 중요도를 뜻하는 표현으로 쓰인다.
“Magnitude”
- (엄청난) 규모, 중요도
- (별의) 광도
- 지진 규모 (진도)
이는 천문에서는 별의 광도를 뜻하기도 하고, 지질학에서는 지진의 규모를 뜻하기도 하는 단어로 쓰인다. 그 외의 일반적인 경우에서는 “규모”라는 말로 쓸 수 있다.
