에나멜은 안료를 포함한 도료를 통틀어 이르는 말로 좁은 뜻으로는 유성 페인트에 상대하여 에나멜페인트를 이른다. 에나멜페인트와 래커에나멜이 있는데, 광택이 있고 목공품이나 피혁 제품을 비롯하여 기계, 차량 따위의 외부 도장에 쓴다.
에나멜은 영어로도 그대로 “Enamel”이라고 사용한다.
