샹들리에는 프랑스어에서 온 단어로 우리말에서도 그대로 쓰인다. 이는 천장에 매달아 드리우게 된, 여러 개의 가지가 달린 방사형 모양의 등(燈)을 말한다. 이는 가지 끝마다 불을 켜는데 예전에는 촛불이나 가스등을 켰으나 지금은 주로 전등을 켠다.
이는 영어로도 그대로 “Chandelier”라고 사용한다.
